DURABILITY & REPAIRS
Weapons, shields, bows and every piece of armor wear out with use. A weapon wears as you swing or shoot it; armor, helmets, legs, boots and shields wear as you are hit (shields faster when they block). A typical piece lasts about ten hours of hunting. Ammunition, spears, throwing weapons, wands, rings and amulets never wear.
- Look at an item to see its durability ("Durability: 73%").
- At 10% left you get a warning that it is badly worn.
- At 0% it is broken: it gives no attack, defense or armor at all until it is repaired. A broken item is never destroyed.
Repairing at a smith
Any of the smiths below repairs everything you wear and carry in one go: say repair, they name the price, answer yes. A full repair costs 30% of the item's smith value, less for an item that is only partly worn.
Repairing it yourself: the Blacksmith
A Blacksmith repairs for iron bars instead of gold: lay the worn items on an anvil and use the anvil. Every repair gives Blacksmith experience. What you can repair depends on the item's smith tier (1–5, by its stats; forged tiers count extra) against your anvil's rank (E–A, unlocked with the Upgrade Anvil recipes, the same as the cooking oven):
